The story behind our Murano lamps
When you bring the handmade Murano lamps into your home, they all come with a story. The island they are mouth-blown on has been a hotbed of handicrafts for over 700 years and even to this day, virtually all the residents empower themselves with glass art. Communicate, further develop and look after the heritage with which they surround themselves.
All our lamps are carefully selected based on their style, shades and origin. Not many years ago it was possible to experience the glass lamps at the Italian cultural institutions, but today it is rarer and rarer. An example is a centuries-old Italian monastery that had to be renovated and rebuilt. The long, soulful corridors had been fitted with the finest Murano swirl wall lamps with brass since the 1970s, but when re-establishing lighting they chose other forms of light and we were given the opportunity to bring them to Denmark. It is not that often that we come across several of the same kind, but it actually happens once in a while. Another story is that of the small Italian boutique hotel that had the iconic Murano mushroom lamps standing on all the bedside tables. When the owner of the hotel became too old to run it and chose to close the hotel down, we were offered to help the table lamps to new homes.
Buy Murano lamps online
It can be difficult to find authentic and original Murano lamps in physical stores, as they are only produced on the small island of Murano in Italy. The most respected glassblowers on the island are called Murano maestros and today there are very few left. Due to the major international economic crisis in the 1980s, many of the workshops on the island went bankrupt and since then very few have been trained in the traditional techniques. Both new and older Murano glass can therefore be difficult to find and there is some that is made to look like the beautiful glass (although it is not). At Murano Vintage we specialize in Murano glass and it is possible to buy online at our webshop or you are welcome to visit our warehouse at Amagerbro in Copenhagen. Find visit details here.

Create new life in your interior with Murano lamps from Italy
At Murano Vintage we specialize in Murano. When darkness falls, the light sources in your home bring both functionality and atmosphere. Lighting is a central part of interior design and can make a major difference, transform a room and create atmosphere. Lamps both do something for your decor and at the same time have a practical function. A home has many rooms, each with its own purpose and they require different ways to be lit up. If you are going to furnish a living room, you need primary lighting, e.g. in the form of a pendant ceiling lamp or a ceiling, but in addition it is also a good idea to consider a wall lamp. It can be placed behind the sofa or armchair and used as a reading light, it can also be installed in a dark corner, which suddenly takes on new life. We have curated a very diverse selection of wall lamps in glass, where you will find both wall lamps with mouth-blown tronchi prisms and you can find the round swirl wall lamps with a pattern. When you decorate with Murano lamps, you get both a sculptural element in the room and at the same time you bring in more light. If you want something very special, we recommend seeing the selection of vintage Murano mushroom lamps. They got the name because of their mushroom-like appearance in different designs. They were mouth-blown on the island of Murano in the 1960s/70s and are today collectibles that can be difficult to find. Many lamps today are inspired by the Murano mushroom lamps, but you will only find original Murano lamps with us. If you want to learn more about recognizing Murano glass, you can read our guide here.
